Potash Mountain ~ Oct 11, 2012

Journal entry by Anita Dingman

Twenty-one hikers met at the Municipal Center in Lake Luzerne. We car pooled from there to the trail head for Potash Mountain. Donna Gagnon, the owner of the private property we were hiking on was supposed to meet us there but was late. Since I had obtained her permission to hike there, we took a couple of photos and started up the mountain. It was a perfect day for a hike-cool enough to make it comfortable on the hike up. The sun peeked through from time to time. Every year I climb Potash (I have done it almost every year since I was in my teens) it seems to get steeper. On top the wind was COLD but everyone agreed that the views were worth it. Unfortunately, this year the colors haven't been very vivid but there were a lot of yellows. Upon reaching our cars again, we found Donna and her Dad waiting for us so everyone got to meet them. Donna gave us a paper that told about her plans for the mountain-I hope her dreams can be realized. Thanks, Donna, for giving us permission to hike Potash.

I am not sure of everyone's names so will leave that to someone else.
