Garnet Hill ski ~ Feb 5, 2015

Journal entry by Nancy Kimball and Donna Wood

You can always count on the "canes". Despite a forecast for plummeting temperatures and wind, twelve participants arrived at Garnet Hill ski center. We were surprised and happy to have blue skies and bright sun to begin our day. We started out easy with a warm-up on the "Old Faithful" trail. As we started downhill to the "tailings" area we had great skiing on fresh powdered snow, a real treat. We then climbed up to the "sugar house" and then out towards the farm house area. Unfortunately, the bus was not operating due to mechanical problem, so we started our return trip, which required a lot of climbing. There were no complaints from this group, despite the rigorous trip back. We finally got to enjoy a late lunch and to decide to call it a day or go back out. Of course, we decided to do more. Choosing a less challenging trail, we had a nice downhill run through a beautiful wooded area. It was a wonderful day and we thank Liz, Lynn, Fran, Margie, Don, Tom, Ray and Ray, Joanne and Pete for joining us. Nancy and Donna

Here we are ready to head out for our first ski of the day. You may have guessed from the headgear that the temps were in the low teens. Our thanks go to Nancy and Donna for leading the trip and to Pete for being the safety "Sweep". Nancy, Joanne, Tom, Margie, Don, Pete, Lynn, Liz, Fran, Ray Boucher, Donna - added by RayB
